The experience system that PLATEMAIL utilizes is a sliding-logarithmic scale based on what the character’s level of experience is; higher levels are awarded less experience than their lower level counterparts.
The following are some notable attributes that the experience system provides:
• The minimum amount of XP awarded is 4 XP.
• The maximum amount of XP permitted is 4000 XP.
• Upon gaining enough experience to gain multiple levels, the character is only-ever permitted 1 additional level of experience.
• The character delivering the killing blow receives a 10% XP bonus award.
• Hostile creatures that were killed, then resurrected through any means, and then killed again do not provide additional experience awards.
• PvP (Player vs. Player) combat awards the survivor an item to prove their victory over the other player on the battlefield. However, experience is not awarded to the victor.
• “The Most Wanted” worldly list tracks creatures, and PCs, that have grown in infamy. In its current implementation, when a character / creature vanquishes someone on the most wanted list, the experience system automatically provides that individual with the reward (in gold).
NOTE: PCs on the most wanted list will lose levels of experience upon death & respawn if their XP penalty drops them below their current level’s required minimum.
• There are boss-type creatures randomly spawned & configured through the spawn system. Upon a character vanquishing one of these rare individuals, they are awarded additional XP due to their increased challenge.
• Maximum permitted distance from the battlefield for indirect / observed XP awarded is 40 meters.
• As the experience system is a tightly-integrated system, it considers if the creature vanquished; belonged to a CTF team (Capture the Flag), factional-disposition, associate-type, etc. Therefore, there are various modifications made to the experience awarded to prevent exploitations and similar.
• All characters receive XP awards; both PCs and NPCs. Both character types gain levels of experience accordingly. However, the exception is PC ‘Associates’, they level-up in experience in conjunction with their PC master gaining levels of experience.
DEV STATUS: The above statements are subject to change as PLATEMAIL (Seviss Isles 6) is currently under development. This feature is considered near-complete but has undergone play-testing modifications; therefore, the experience system may be further modified in future builds. Particular experience handling aspects still have pending modifications before the final release and therefore will change in some future build.
